Special post for someone i care.
I know's been tough, with tests, projects and all. With many ministry planning to do, with things that make you ponder a lot.
Though many times i may be very caught up with my work and other things, know that i still do care for you! I may not be asking a lot or even saying a lot to you, cause on my side, many things are pretty overwhelming too. But that doesnt mean that your friendship doesnt have a stand.
Like i've always said before, i may seem very busy and distant, but i still do care alright? (: This twin network, will never disconnect, or lose service, cause it's a free network that's been blessed by God! (:

This was something that i got from one of my ex-patient's facebook.
Ten reasons why you should date a nurse:
1) They can help you get over a hangover or sickness
2) Bedbaths!
3) The uniform
4) They are exposed to so many xrays, its like a form of birth control
5) You willl never need to buy condoms, paracetamol, toothbrushes or any hospital supplies
6) They know how to handle bodily fluids!
7) Nothing shocks a nurse, they have always seen smaller or indeed bigger!
8) They wont be disgusted by your toilet habits
9) They are experienced in manual evacuation when your full of crap
10)They know how to handle the human body!!!!!!!
You know you're a nurse if.....
1. You believe that every patient needs tlc, diazepam,temazepam and haloperidol.
2. You would like to meet the inventor of the Nurse call buzzer some night in a dark alley.
3. You believe not all patients are annoying, some are unconscious.
4. Your sense of humour gets more warped each year.
5. You can only tell time by the 24 hr clock.
6. Almost everything can seem humorous....eventually.
7. You know the smell of different diarrhoea to identify it.
8. Every time you walk you make a jingling noise because of all the scissors and clamps in your pocket.
9. You can tell the pharmacist more about the medication they are dispensing than they know.
10. You carry more "spare" meds in your pocket rather than waiting for pharmacy to deliver them.
11. You refuse to watch ER because it is too much like the real thing and it triggers flashbacks.
12. You check the caller id on your day off to see if anyone from the hospital is trying to call and ask you to work.
13. You've been telling stories in a restaurant and made someone at another table throw up.

15. Everytime someone asks you for a pen you can find at least 4 of them on you.
16. You can intubate your friends at parties.
17. You don't get excited about blood unless it's your own.
18. You live by the motto "to be right is only half the battle, to convince the doctor is more difficult"
20. You've told a confused patient that your name was that of your co-worker and to holler if they need help.
21. Eating microwave popcorn out of a clean bedpan is perfectly normal.
22. Your bladder can expand to the size of a Mack Truck's Radiator Sump.
23. You find yourself checking out other customers veins in grocery waiting lines. (Haha! I do!)
24. You can sleep soundly at the hospital cafeteria table on your dinner break and not be embarrassed when you wake up.
25. You avoid unhealthy looking shoppers in the mall for fear that they will drop near you and you'll have to do cpr on your day off.
26. You have ever referred to someone's death as a transfer to the "Eternal Care Unit".
27. You have ever wanted to hold a seminar entitled "Suicide ... Doing It Right".
28. You have ever had to leave a patient's room before you begin to laugh uncontrollably.
29. You throw a party for a co-worker and use a urinal (clean of course) as a lemon-aid pitcher and use a bed sheet for a tablecloth
30. You believe that the government should require a permit to reproduce.
31. You hate to get dressed in "real clothes" because scrubs are what you live in and why can't they make jeans that comfortable.
32. You have ever restrained someone and it was not a sexual experience.
33. You often stay awake for 24+ hrs at a time when you work night shift, realize you don't need alcohol or drugs to hallucinate. Just lack of sleep...
34. You pull over in some parking lot after working nights because you are too tired to drive home and wake up to someone knocking on your window thinking you have had a stroke because you are passed out in your car and drooling.
35. Your finger has gone places you never thought possible.
36. You have seen more penises than any prostitute
37. You disbelieve 90% of what you are told and 75% of what you see.

40. Its just to help you understand our mindset and questionable mental status/sanity.
Most of the time we function in spite of this sick sense of humour, fairly normally and very responsibly.
It must be added to the list that you hate flying just incase the air stewards announce "if there is a Doctor or Nurse on board... please make yourself known to the cabin crew" At which point you cringe and hide!

Highlights of the week. (: *its not only just the arrival of my Yi Ma, Uncle Desmond.
Thursday 12.02.09:
Met up with my darling babes! All 5 of us! Wanted to eat the XO mee fen at Holland V, but when we got there, we realised that it was closed!! Oh my tians. But then we bumped into Cheryl and Dot who introduced us to this store- The big D's. Which served very nice western/paranakan food! *yums*

After dinner, we headed to Breko to chill and chit chat. Was certainly a good one! ((: Missed them so much.

Spent my this year's Valentine's at Work. Was working afternoon shift. But after work, headed to meet the usual gang. Left work at 9.45 and cabbed down to West Coast Park's Mac to meet Flor, Merwin, Charles, Jem, Sarah, Tonia and Lyn! (:
Chit chat, really had some good catching up.. Laughs. They are really the friends when you dont meet up often, but know that we still grow together as a group. (: Was there till 1230am. Then headed back. Charles gave me a lift back all the way. Both of us were pretty tired especially with the contagious yawns. haha. talked about how we miss Fei Fei too.
Slept... and morning shift the next day! Rah rah rah...

Went to work to find out that instead of being in charge, i was junior. A side junior today. Was crazy especially with the patients we have. And realised that bad thing about working in a neuro ward? Patients who are confused shouldnt be put together!
When confused patients start talking to each other, they think that they are making sense with one another! and they start to gang up together!!!
NIGHTMARE!!!!!! 2/2 pressed call bell and wanted to go toilet, upon hearing that, 2/4 said she wanted to. and 2/1 was just practically parrotting everything others said. Oh man.. i was going mad. hahah.
Anways, ended the day with a backache, but! The smiles side to it was i was meeting Flor and Charles for massage!! *thank God* It was shiiooook! Met Family for dinner and went to pick up the new maid. Yes you read it right- new maid arrival! So for 2 weeks, im having 2 maids at home! One from Indonesia (Current) and the new one's from Phillippines! (:

Met up with my darling babes! All 5 of us! Wanted to eat the XO mee fen at Holland V, but when we got there, we realised that it was closed!! Oh my tians. But then we bumped into Cheryl and Dot who introduced us to this store- The big D's. Which served very nice western/paranakan food! *yums*

Spent my this year's Valentine's at Work. Was working afternoon shift. But after work, headed to meet the usual gang. Left work at 9.45 and cabbed down to West Coast Park's Mac to meet Flor, Merwin, Charles, Jem, Sarah, Tonia and Lyn! (:
Chit chat, really had some good catching up.. Laughs. They are really the friends when you dont meet up often, but know that we still grow together as a group. (: Was there till 1230am. Then headed back. Charles gave me a lift back all the way. Both of us were pretty tired especially with the contagious yawns. haha. talked about how we miss Fei Fei too.

Got news from Charles just now. Fei Fei died... Or should i say, got murdered.
Fei Fei's this ultimately lovable cat at his house there. Was given the name Fei Fei cause of how chubby she was. How rounded her warm tummy was.. How much she kept eating and eating always.

"Came back from outside at 1050pm.. only to be greeted by the ghastly sight of a literal pool of blood with my poor cat in the centre. Some cruel person lured her into their home and probably threw her down from their house. Indeed, grieving. But I guess it beats a lonely death where no one knows about. Perhaps its better this way that she gets a decent sending off by the people who love her lots (realised that she had two other co-owners who were sobbing along with me. They come to see her nightly too.) We cremated her nicely in a pet cemetary. So to my dearest cat known as Fei Fei, Rest in Peace. I miss Fei Fei.. She was the most adorable cat i've ever met. The pitiful eyes, the way she curled up next to you.. How she'll love to rub herself next to you.. Loved to fit herself into the empty flower pot outside Charles' house and do her little "business".. A cat that lovessss Chicken wings. I miss her... I might sound crazy. But i really feel the lost and hurt. Im acutally crying as i read Charles' note. All the memories with her.. I'll never forget. How much joy and laughter she brought.

Came home from work this morning, bathe and then crashed in bed. Slept for a couple of hours, then bathe and met darling at Yew Tee here cause she was at Da Ge's place.
then this super funny incident happened la! We arrived at the MRT platform and just as we were approaching the seats, my eyes caught this person looking at me. But i didnt exactly bother. But what happened was, the minute we sat down, i heard someone called out, "VALERIE!" i was like 0.0!!! haha.
Looked behind me, and realised it was that person who was looking at me whom called out to me! At that moment i couldnt rememeber who he was, but then he looked familiar. And this was what happened:
Guy: Cannot remember me right?
Me: Er... *smiles* Sorry, but you are?
Guy: Primary sch friend! Rememeber not?
Me: *thinks hard.. shit shit shit* haha. You look familiar.
Guy: Benedict la!
Me: *enlightened* Ohhh!! ya ya! I remember now!
Sooooo embarrassing la! hahaha.. But i still remember him. Oh my tians. I was quite impressed that he could still rememeber me and can even rememeber my name la! The last time i saw him? P6? Which is like..... 10 years ago?! Oh my tians. haha. anyway darling got a shock too. then she kept laughing. hahaha.
Anyways, we headed down to town and caught Bride Wars!
Was a really good movie! Love it. Darling and i were talking about how excited we are.. talked about weddings and such. haha. Then after that was dinner at Shokudo @Hereen. Yummy! Here was dinner!
Was good! after that we did some portrait picture at some photo booth! Love it! But just that we had audiences outside the booth looking at our picture drawn la! Shall upload it when im free. Nicee! ((: After that, a good walk down to Plaza Sing.
Headed home area after that, met my dear Twin for Supper, where we bumped into so many people. haha. In the end, headed home with Tonia, Melvin and Theresa Ng la. haha. Alrights, got to go sleep! Tmr got wedding to attend. Need to wake in 4, 5 hours time? Shit!

Yay!!! it's sleeping day!!!! 3 nights finally went by!
First night was pretty fast, second night was rather draggy, last night wasn't that bad.
Anyway... Nothing much. Just pretty stonned out. Dr Eddie was on call again. and he's on call again tmr? Aiyo... Earning lots of $$ eh. haha. Think he also quite bad luck. Each time on call, super busy. Last night he was busy till 4 then he managed to get a quick nap before waking up at 6again.
He and i both were like GCS dropped and like talking nonsense.
Incident 1:
Dr Eddie: eh that patient arh. We shall just observe first la. we see. Then arh, maybe need to stitch la. you know stitch right? need what right?
Me: *nods*
Dr Eddie: yea, so take... *and wents on with the list*
Me: *continue nodding*
Dr Eddie: Eh eh eh. why you like that arh. Tired arh?
Me: *nods*
Dr Eddie: See la. cannot like that leh. Next time after night shift arh. must go back and sleep. Cannot go out party, watch movie, go shopping you know......
hahaha....
Oh yes. and did i mention that i thought he was going to do the stitching? But in the end, this was what he said la!
Incident 2:
Dr Eddie: ok come, i teach you how to stitch. *goes on to demo on how stitching is done*
Me: *listens and nods*
Dr Eddie: ok arh? ok, you go stitch.

How about i stitch and get half of his pay too? hahaha.... Full of nonsense la. But i guess its just that everyone was just too tired already. I dont know how he survives on call every alternate day.
Anyways.... Joy prepared food for last night! Maccoroni Salad! Yumsss! And Joy said i couldnt tell Jojo that she prepared that. Or else Jojo makes noise. So jojo, if you're reading this? Im not telling you. And i didnt tell you. You happen to be looking at this from my blog! haha.
Later going back to sleep for awhile. Then heading down to town to help Ronn get something, then meet darling for movie- Bride Wars! Then got to help her with her upcoming 21st! ((: Exciting!!

2nd night down... 1 more night to go!!! *dreads*
I dont know why. But im just feeling so so so sleepy................................ Work at night been really stagnent. With hypocount, hourly urine, suctioning, IV medications that are like hour after hour. Gosh! Non stop. Rahhhhh........
Its like until at each time i see the next hour comes, i know i have to do something. Slepppy. Soooo Sleeepyyy.........
My dear ah mah made my day! What beats a nice cup of hot milo so early in the morning? ((: *yums* Made sandwhiches last night, and did a delivery up to darling's ward. (: She's on night too! Finally we're on night tog. But then its already her sleeping day. :( Its ok! im looking forward to my date with her this friday! Darling! dont forget ok!!
Tonight... its going to be my fav Maccoroni Salad done by Joy!! Yay! good food again. Dr Eddie is going to be on call again. Bet he's going to love the food. He and his eating. Gosh! haha....... Time check? 6.10am... *counts down*

Night shift again... This time back with my dearest Joy!! Dont know if this is going to be the last time i'm on night with her because she's going to be transfering to Ward 45 in March. Going to miss her dearly!! :(
Anyway.. First night has been really packed. Came on shift to find that 1 of my patient's vital signs are rather unsteady. Quite scary in fact. Whole night have been really busy till 5am now la!! With frequent 2hourly suctioning and CLC para monitoring. And IV medications, after IV and more IV and MORE IV!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my tians. So busy!! i didnt even have time to touch my reports until like 3 am?
Anyways, out of my crazy night.. while doing turning, i managed to come up with some nonsense- The analysis of the different kinds of SHIT. hahaha...
1.The norm shit- the normal usual kind. That stinks and you know that patient shit!
2. The messy norm shit- The messy ones, that stinks and you know.
3. The deadly silent shit! - That kind that you dont know that patient shit, doesn't smells, but when you open up the diapers, you see one big mess!! Argh.
That was what i encountered tonight. the 3 different kinds of shit. and i really hate the Deadly Silent one!! cause i almost had to clear the whole bed la!!! haha..
Grossness aside... Everyone was like so busy the entire night, even our On call Dr Eddie. haha. He really was dead out. At about 3am, he told me "ok arh Valerie, im going to sleep now arh. Goodnight." 3 minutes later, i saw that ICU had a post op- and within the next minute, his phone rang. hahahaha... Poor thing! and next thing i know? He walked out with a super duper sian out face. hahaha.. I just looked at him and went "See la! Goodnight some more" Well, but at least after that he managed to sleep.
Joke of the night? Later part when i called him at 5 to inform him that patient's hypocount was dead low.. here was the conversation.
Me: Dr Eddie, Patient's H/C is 3.4 now
Dr: Shit shit shit... erm.. let me think.. let me think...
*silence* 1 minute later...
*rumbling noises.. doot doot doot* phone line cut off.
hahahhaha... Decided not to torture him. So at 6am when he woke, i asked him if he remembered me calling? He was like.. er no? hahaha....
Time check: 6.30am!!!!
